The companies that deliver oil to heat our homes have been in the forefront for a very, very long time, loudly stating that the continuous escalating price of oil is due to the oil speculators. President Bush lifted an executive order banning offshore oil drilling to help increase domestic oil production. Community Board #11

In our last column, the board commented that the Institute of Applied Human Dynamics had put forth a proposal to establish a group home for developmentally disabled adults at 2992 Lawton Avenue in Throggs Neck.  The sponsors plan to house 3 to 8 developmentally disabled adults at the property. The Board scheduled a public meeting for July 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Ft. Schuyler House, located at 3077 Cross Bronx Expressway.  The meeting was well attended and many speakers, both pro and con expressed their views. Read more…

Recently, Senator Klein’s office forwarded a very interesting article that was in the Daily News several months ago.  It was about a slumlord named Hamid Khan, who has a legacy of abuse very similar to that of Jacob Selechnik.  The difference?  HPD sent Khan to jail!  So, why is Selechnik left to abuse tenants, abuse taxpayers by refusing to pay HPD what is owed for correcting the violations he refused to correct and why, oh why, is he allowed to come here, to our community, and begin a new legacy of abuse?
