POST COVID-19 VIRTUAL GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS OFFERED BY SBH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES, BRONX, NY
Two eight-week virtual group therapy sessions have been instituted by SBH Behavioral Health Services (SBHBH) to help patients following the COVID-19 pandemic. Both programs begin July 15th.
“Good Grief,” open to up to 12 members, offers a healthy approach to experiences of loss and grief during the COVID-19 pandemic. Members will have an opportunity to discuss personal experiences, the stages of grief and how it has been impacted by the pandemic. Through group therapy, participants will learn healthy strategies to cope with loss during this extraordinary time. Therapeutic intervention will include motivational interviewing, stress reduction and instructional tasks to enhance social connection. At the end of the eight weeks, group members will learn techniques to cope with loss and maintain a positive mood and social connection.
“Shelter from the Storm” offers support to those who find themselves facing anxiety and depression caused by the isolation and ever-changing environment brought by the pandemic. Weekly sessions will explore the managing of such basic needs as isolation, grief, anxiety, and depression. Therapeutic intervention will include the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, stress reduction, relaxation skills, and instructional tasks to improve social connection.
At the end of the eight-week sessions, group members will learn techniques to maintain a positive mood and social connection.
