Online: The CRAFT of WAR WRITING – Online – Free Writing Workshop for Veterans and the General Public
This event is on Saturday May 9 and Saturday May 16.
Writing starts with reading. With this in mind, The Craft of War Writing focuses on reading war narratives while considering how participants can draft their own stories. Each week, the class reads published pieces in the field of war writing, from classic authors to the most contemporary. In these works, we seek out elements of craft to help participants arrive at the essentials of writing. Participants are then encouraged to compose their own short pieces, read each other’s work, offer feedback and edits, and suggest revision strategies to help one another realize the vision for his or her own writing, whether fiction, poetry or creative nonfiction. Periodic guest authors will also be invited to visit. Prior writing experience not required.
