Hello readers and welcome to another edition of Around Town!

Graduation

Congratulations to Anthony Alfredo Madia on graduation from Salesian High School on Saturday, June 3.

Your graduation started with the beautiful Baccalaureate Mass on Friday, June 2 and ended with the school’s 94th Commencement Exercises on Saturday.

Salesian was the best choice for you. You are now the third Salesian alum in the family, joining your brothers Joey and Johnny. You made many great friends and probably got along better with your teachers and faculty than most young men and possibly adults!

Your graduation day came with much anticipation and excitement, and it ended the same way.

You have made us all so very proud of you!

You have amazing leadership qualities which were recognized by your receiving the school’s highest honor: the Silver Eagle Award.

As your class’s student body president, you maintained constant energy and good spirit throughout the year as you carried out your daily responsibilities.

You approach life with morality, tenacity, humor and compassion, setting your goals high and motivating yourself and others to reach them.

As you begin your new journey at Iona College, we have that same anticipation and excitement to see where it leads you.

God bless you and the 115 young men who graduated with you at Salesian High School.

Love always, Mom, Dad, and your big brothers Joseph and John.

Newly assigned priest

St. Benedict’s Church is welcoming a new priest who was recently assigned to the parish: Fr. Daniel Tuite, confirmed the pastor, Fr. Stephen Norton.

Local businessman John Cerini, who is a lector at St. Benedict’s Church in Throggs Neck, said he is thrilled that a third parish priest has been assigned to the church, which should be a great help to the priests already assigned there, he believes.

Real Estate Award

Kathy Zamechansky, president of KZA Realty Group, recently received the Bronx-Manhattan North Association of Realtors’ Presidents Award.

The award is given annually to a recipient who the organization’s president selects for contributing to the organization’s success.

Christina Leigh-Stevens, organization president, said that Zamechansky is a highly respected member of the local real estate industry who helps others in the field by helping them stay informed of trends and issues, as well as chairing a legislative committee.
