Two brothers were killed last week when their car veered off the road and slammed into a tree in Wakefield.

Police and firefighters responded to the scene at Bronx River Parkway near the East 233rd Street exit on Friday, February 17 at 12:30 a.m.

Both the driver, Dayan Hunter, 47, of the Bronx, and his passenger, Dave Hunter, 44, of Yonkers, were pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the two men were driving the white Mercedes sedan when they lost control crashing through a guardrail before slamming into a tree.

The crash temporarily closed the parkway’s northbound lanes.

Police said speed played a factor in the fatal crash.

It was unclear if alcohol was involved and the incident remains under investigation.
