Scores of police officers from NYC, state and around the world paid their respects to a fallen police officer killed in an unprovoked attack. Ten blocks of the Grand Concourse transformed into a sea of blue as police officers stood outside of World Changers Church to give a final salute to slain police officer Miosotis Familia on the morning of Tuesday, July 11. Approximately 5,000 mourners packed into the church to remember the fallen 46th Precinct police officer and offer their support to her grieving family and friends. Familia, a 12-year veteran, was fatally shot on Wednesday, July 5 while sitting in a marked NYPD command vehicle near the corner of Morris Avenue and East 183rd Street in an unprovoked attack. She was promoted posthumously to detective first-grade in honor of her service to the community.
