Throggs Neck Chase Bank robbed

The Chase Bank at the corner of East Tremont and Barkley avenues was robbed Wednesday afternoon, with the robber making off with several thousand dollars, according to police.

Police from the 45th Precinct, which is literally located across the street from the bank at 3528 East Tremont Avenue, responded on Wednesday, January 4 at approximately 1:24 p.m.

Employees told police an unknown male suspect entered the location and passed a note to a bank teller demanding money. The suspect fled with $7,400.

There were no arrests as of Wednesday at 5 p.m., and the investigation is ongoing. It was not immediately known whether an anti-theft ink pack was included in the bag of money stolen.

The manager of the bank said she could not comment on the incident.

A Chase bank spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
