Arrest Made in Throggs Neck Shooting

A construction worker is recovering from a gunshot wound after trying to break up a fight between two teenagers in Throggs Neck, while a young neighborhood man remains behind bars.

Just before 6 p.m. on Monday, August 29, authorities say Andrej Andric of Brooklyn intervened in a scuffle between an 18 year old and a 14 year old at the corner of Huntington and Miles Avenue. The 18-year-old then shot Andric in the chest, according to police.

Police arrested the alleged shooter, 18-year-old Barry Bostic of Throggs Neck, at 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning. A police spokesman said the other teenagers would not cooperate in the investigation.

Andric, meanwhile, was taken to Montefiore Medical Center in stable condition. A single bullet was lodged in his chest cavity.

Bostic was arraigned on in Bronx Criminal Court on Wednesday, August 31 on eight charges, including second degree attempted murder, first degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.

His bail was set at $75,000.00. He is being held at Rikers Island.

Bostic’s next court date is set for Tuesday, November 15.
