Preston 9 – Good Counsel 3: Kaitlyn Brown allowed only 1 earned run in 7 innings of work, picking up 3 K’s, and getting Good Counsel to ground out 9 times, in an exceptional outing for the emerging Bronx pitching star. Helping Brown put another point in the win column was Laura Montalto (3 RBI’s), Megan Burke (2 RBI’s), Ashley Weiderhold (4-for-4) and Jennifer Martin, who showed amazing power with a three-run home run blast to cement the victory on May 7.
Adlai Stevenson 16 – Clinton 5: Helping the Lions and themselves were the girls of Stevenson (13-3), who crushed the Lady Governors (13-2) at Clinton on Wednesday, May 7, despite strong play from Jazcelyn Pagan (2-for-3, 1 Triple). Leading the way for Stevenson were Diana Duran (3-for-5, 1 R, 3 RBI’s, 1 Double), Shanay Bonilla (3-for-5, 3 R, 3 RBI’s, 1 Triple), and Tiffany Luyanda (3-for-5, 2 R, 2 RBI’s). Yanilka Tejeda struck out 10 in 6 innings of work to pick up the win. Mere percentage points now separate Lehman, Stevenson and Clinton, as the regular season winds to a close.
Bronx Science 13 – BLA 2: BLA (0-14) just hasn’t had much luck this season, and Wednesday, May 7, at Harris Park, was not any different, as Science (9-4) remained close in the Bronx A Division behind the heroics of Alexandra Krawczuk (3-for-3, 1 R, 5 RBI’s, 1 Double, 1 Triple) and Corinne Fish (5 IP, 2 R, 5 K’s).
Kennedy 13 – South Bronx 3: The Kennedy Lady Knights remain even at .500 with a 7-7 record, taking advantage of some bad fielding by SB (3-12), to score quick and often in the win. Errors hurt SB pitcher Damaryliz Gutierrez, who allowed 13 runs, only 2 of which were earned, off 7 hits in 5 innings .
