Scanlan JV another title?

The 2008-2009 basketball season for the Monsignor Scanlan High School JV Boys Basketball Team started off right where last season left off. Returning coach, Andrew Ayers and returning players Jimmy Hernandez, Kristopher Alvarado and William Clarke have successfully managed to remain undefeated in their league standings. Comment.

It took one slight limp to turn the Bishop Ford crowd silent. Comment.

Led by Thomas, Lehman shocks Wings

Lehman’s 69-67 victory over Wings Academy may be classified as an upset considering the Wings entered play undefeated in Bronx AA and were considered a possible PSAL Class AA city championship contender. Comment.

Track invitational

The 15th Annual Cardinal Hayes Track and Field invitational took place on Friday, January 9 at Lombardi Center at Fordham University. More than 500 high-school athletes participated in 26 track and field events. Comment.

NYC teams react to Empire expire

A week after the state gave them no funding, the Empire State Games are likely to be canceled this summer. Hudson Valley, the region that was supposed to host the country’s largest amateur sporting event, has pulled out, the Associated Press reported Friday. Comment.

Columbus Sharks beat JFK 54-48

Maybe it was the reality check the Christopher Columbus girls’ basketball team needed. The Sharks led most of the way, including by 15 points in the third quarter, but Martin Luther King Jr. had plenty of fight Saturday afternoon in the PSAL Girls’ Basketball ‘A’ Division Showcase. Comment.
