For over 100 years the Police Athletic League has provided safe places to play and learn through it’s Summer Playstreets Program. City streets and other public areas, including playgrounds and schools create a safe environment where youngsters play traditional sidewalk games, including Double Dutch jump rope, Hopscotch, Nok Hockey, and basketball. 9 am – 5 pm.

Children are encouraged to explore science through slides, seesaws, climbing webs, a water play area, sand boxes, and more, weather permitting. 9:30 am–5 pm.

Children 5 to 16 learn the basics of the sport, from hurdles and relay races, to long jump, shot put and javelin throw. All participating youngsters have the opportunity to display the basic skills learned at the end of the season at an organized track meet held at Icahn Stadium Randall’s Island on August 12th. Registration on line required; Two sessions - 5 to 7 years old and 8 to 16 years old. 9:30 am – 10:30 am and 10:30 am to noon.

The newly renovated area is open and features new species, new exhibits , and a domestic petting zoo. 10 am – 5 pm.

Shoot, pitch, score and learn to hone your sportsmanship skills. Register on line. 10 am–6 pm.

Recycle and reuse natural materials to create unique projects. 11 am –1 pm.

Join in for games of flag football, softball, soccer and m ore. 1 pm to 2:30 pm.
