Hands-on Gingerbread Adventure at NYBG

In the hands-on Gingerbread Adventures program at The New York Botanical Garden, children can learn about the different plant parts used in creating the favorite holiday snack, gingerbread. From November 23, through January 11, 2009, in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, youngsters will be amazed to discover that cinnamon comes from the bark of a tree, ginger is derived from an underground stem, and more. They’ll have an opportunity to grind and examine gingerbread ingredients under a microscope and develop a field notebook about their visit. Read more…

One-woman show at Hunts Point BAAD

The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance presents Elizabeth “Macha” Marrero in Retro Petro. This one-woman comedic show following the life and times of a ghetto matriach has sprung from the hyperactive, bilingual mind of Ms. Marrero who works with choreographer Arthur Aviles as her director. The shows will be presented Fridays and Sat., Nov. 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 pm. Performances are at BAAD!, 841 Barretto Street in Hunts Point. Tickets are $15 with reservations and $20 at the door.
